Biography
Benjamin J. McMichael is the Jere L. Beasley Professor of Law and Director of Interdisciplinary Legal Studies at the University of Alabama School of Law. His research focuses on health care regulation, professional licensing, medical markets, and health policy, using empirical methods to study how law affects health care delivery and outcomes.
He holds a Ph.D. in Law & Economics from Vanderbilt University, a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, and a B.S., summa cum laude, in Mathematical Economics from Wake Forest University. He clerked for Judge Carolyn D. King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also holds a voluntary appointment as Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing.
